The Imo State House of Assembly on Wednesday, adjourned sitting to 9th November, 2022, over poor attendance of plenary by the lawmakers.
Speaking on the development, the Speaker, Emeka Anthony Nduka underscored the importance of taking legislative duties very seriously by members especially attending plenary.
He however, stated that proper measures would be put in place to arrest and circumvent the development.
Out of 24 lawmakers only six including the speaker were in attendance.
Recall that Okey Onyekama and Ekene Nnodumele representing Mbaitoli and Orsu State Constituencies respectively are currently on indefinite suspension.
Also, the Nkwerre State Constituency seat has remained vacant after former speaker, Kennedy Ibeh sacked Obinna Okwara for defecting to the People’s Democratic Party from the ruling All Progressives Congress.
It requires nine out of the 27 lawmakers for a quorum to be formed for plenary to hold.
The members present at Thursday’s sitting which could not hold were Emeka Nduka, Kanayo Onyemaechi, Dominic Ezerioha, Cyriacus Okoro, Chigozie Nwaneri and Paschal Okolie.
