The Imo State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the appointment of three new commissioner-nominees by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
The commissioners-designate are Barr. Major Emenike from Onuimo, Architect Chijioke Onumajuru from Mbaitoli and Hon Emeka Okoronkwo from Okigwe local government areas of the state.
Conducting the screening exercise on Tuesday, the Speaker, Emeka Anthony Nduka called on the lawmakers representing the commissioner-nominees to introduce them respectively.
Introducing Major Emenike, the former Speaker of the House, Paul Emeziem, described him as an illustrious and reliable son of Onuimo whose integrity was not in doubt.
He urged the House to allow him to take a bow.
Also, Chidiebere Ogbunika, representing Okigwe State Constituency, after proper introduction of Emeka Okoronkwo, pleaded with the House to allow him take a bow.
Similarly, Uche Ogbuagu representing Ikeduru State Constituency, in the absence of Hon. Okey Onyekanma of Mbaitoli, who is serving indefinite suspension introduced Arch. Chijioke Onumajuru and urged the House to allow him take a bow.
Ogbuagu submitted that Onumajuru’s academic qualifications are a veritable tool to the state government.
In his contribution, the Deputy Speaker, Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, described the nominees as eminently qualified persons who could handle any ministry assigned to them by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Meanwhile, the Imo State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, commended the governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma for renovating the Imo State House of Assembly Complex.
This followed the adoption of the motion moved by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu.
The lawmakers took turns to shower encomiums on the governor for renovating and equipping the complex with digital gadgets thereby making it a world class state assembly.
Recall that the House resumed plenary on Tuesday after a two-month recess.
