All is now set for the resumption of legislative activities at the Imo State House of Assembly on October 25, 2022.
The House is resuming after a two-month recess.
During the recess, the House organized a two-day in-house workshop for its members of staff.
Declaring the workshop open, the speaker, Emeka Nduka expressed joy that the exercise was coming exactly one month he was elected to pilot the affairs of the legislature.
He expressed confidence that at the end of the workshop, the Assembly staff would have imbibed improved attitude to work; upgraded themselves, understood public service rule better and be in a better position to appreciate the administration of Governor Hope Uzodinma.
Nduka commended the clerk, Chinelo Emeghara for her dexterity and dedication to duty and pledged to enhance the welfare of staff.
Recall that the Assembly embarked on recess in August after the screening and confirmation of the nomination of 27 sole administrators and the Chief Judge of the state and President, Customary Court of Appeal.
Also during the recess, President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated the rebuilt Imo State House of Assembly Complex.
Also, during the recess, the House held a special sitting presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu during which he read a letter of resignation by Kennedy Ibeh as speaker.
The House promptly elected Emeka Nduka, member for Ehime Mbano Constituency as Ibeh’s successor.
Nduka is the fourth speaker of the 9th Assembly within three years.
Before Ibeh and Nduka, Collins Chiji(Isiala Mbano), and Paul Emeziem (Onuimo) had served as speakers.
