A group, Orlu Political Action Committee (OPAC) has decried the latest resort to brazen cloning, wicked propaganda and dangerous blackmail by agents of the Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma against his predecessor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
OPAC noted that in the last fortnight, the agents of the governor have inundated the media spaces with letters which they fabricated, distributed and syndicated but ascribed to Ihedioha.
According to OPAC, the intention of these appointees of Senator Uzodimma is to pit the former governor against Igbo people.
In a statement dated October 18, 2022 and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Nnamdi Maduka, the OPAC said when the governor’s appointees failed in their gambit, they contrived other options.
The group added that one of the other options was to congregate under a bizarre nomencluature to demand the arrest of Ihedioha over a baseless allegation of misappropriating N19.63billion.
On seeing that discerning citizens did not fall for such cheap propaganda, OPAC informed that Uzodimma’s hatchet men again cooked up another artifice which was to clone Ihedioha’s voice.
The group said in the cloned voice, they made it seem as if the former governor made statements on phone about the security situation in the state.
It pointed out that as soon as the cloned voice recording was released to the public, a group of impostors operating under the aegis of Orlu Political Consultative Assembly (OPOCA) led by Chief Rex Anunobi latched on it to begin to demand the arrest of the former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives.
OPAC recalled that Gov Uzodimma had mobilized his appointees, proxies and thugs about six weeks ago to stage an anti-opposition protest rally in Owerri during which they demanded Ihedioha’s arrest.
It described the voice cloning as an afterthought contrived to justify the arrest and premeditated elimination of the former governor.
The group pointedly accused Gov Uzodimma of forging the letterhead and signature as well as cloning of Ihedioha’s voice, saying by so doing, he has crossed the red line.
It claimed that the governor has unleashed countless fake groups to plunge the state into crisis and divert attention from the killings, arson, abductions and treasury looting going on under his watch.
OPAC therefore called on the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), to arrest and prosecute Chief Anunobi, who has been identified as the person behind the fake letters, cloned voice recording and fake groups criminally heating up the polity.
OPAC, on behalf of Orlu Zone, tendered an unreserved apology to Ihedioha for mindless actions of Anunobi, adding that as a recompense, Orlu Zone will on Saturday, December 31, 2022 honour the former governor with the chieftaincy title of “Ezinwanne Ndi Orlu”.
