The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has promised to clear one-year salary arrears of members of staff of the Imo State chapter of the party.
Anyanwu said the welfare of party members and members of staff should be the top priority of any leader or institution, noting that positive results could only be achieved when workers are happy and taken care of.
He made this promise on Saturday while addressing leaders, critical stakeholders and members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of PDP in Owerri while on a one-day working visit to the party secretariat.
Anyanwu therefore requested the leadership of the party in the state to furnish him with details of the staff salary in the last one year for urgent action.
Anyanwu, who represented Imo East District at the Senate between 2015 and 2019 called on other leaders of the party across the 27 local government areas to join hands to move the PDP forward.
On complaint of not being neutral in the discharge of their duties, Anyanwu maintained that it remains a serious offence for party officers to favour any aspirant against the others.
He advised anyone indulging in such illicit act to desist without further delay or face the consequences.
He said that as party officers, their actions should be seen to be absolutely neutral, noting that what should be paramount to them is how to take PDP to an enviable height and ensuring that all party candidates win the 2023 elections.
Hear him; “The SEC is expected to play a role that will not engender strife among aspirants by eliminating partisanship.
“Your duties as party officers are to play a neutral role that will guarantee fair-play and equal opportunities to all intending aspirants.
“No privileged advantage should be given to anyone so that other people wishing to aspire to any position are encouraged to join”
The former Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions admonished party officers to always respect leaders, critical stakeholders and members, even as he warned against further threat of suspension or dismissal of elected party officials.
