The traditional ruler of Obibi Uratta Community in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Prof. Amobi Uwaleke has appealed the High Court judgement striking out his suit challenging the existence of another monarch in his kingdom.

An Imo State High Court sitting in Owerri had on Wednesday, October 5 struck out on technical ground a suit seeking explanation on why another traditional ruler, Eze Boniface Ariri should emerge in a community with an existing monarch.

Eze Uwaleke was recognized and handed a staff of office by the administration of Owelle Rochas Okorocha in 2017, while the administration of Senator Hope Uzodimma recognized and offered a staff of office to Eze Ariri in 2021.

Fielding questions from journalists, Eze Uwaleke revealed of two more cases instituted against Eze Boniface by the Obibi Community Central Kingmakers (”Oha Uratta”).

According to him, the case which was struck out in the High Court was the one he instituted which seeks for a legal interpretation on why another traditional ruler should emerge in a community with a serving ruler . “

He added; “During the past government, I was procedurally crowned by both the community kingmakers and recognized by the state government “

He further stated that he needs an explanation on why the court declined to favourably decide on such a suit that was meant to define the position of the law on a community with two traditional rulers.

He stated that the court rather explained that the prayers in the suit, should have followed through a writ of summon and not the originating summon .

Eze Uwalekee submittted that Eze Boniface Ariri, must have received his certificate through the back door.

When contacted, Eze Boniface produced the original copy of his certificate of recognition which was signed by the governor .

He expressed his readiness to join issues on the matter with Prof.Uwaleke at any level of his choice.

Eze Ariri insisted that his recognition by Governor Uzodimma is most authentic.
