The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has resolved cases of over one thousand, five hundred and ninety workers whose salaries has been withheld in the past two years for various reasons.

This resolution was made during a meeting the governor held with heads of Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Parastatals at the Government House, Owerri on Tuesday.

He said;”I called you for a brief interactive session, as part of our efforts to strengthen the service and the system and the need for us to collaborate and make the job more meaningful. Also the meeting aims at cementing a harmonious working relation between civil servants and the government, as well as resolve issues around salaries and protection of workers.

The governor also expressed his determination to flush out over 400 “ghost workers” as well as those who received double salaries.

Sen. Uzodimma also disclosed his administration’s plan to commence a health insurance scheme in the state.

 “An executive bill will be sent to the state House of Assembly for the passage into the law to enable take off of the health insurance scheme. 

Earlier the Head of Service, Dr Raymond Ucheoma informed the governor that he has forwarded the reports of salaries and position of workers to the Accountant General.
