The Imo State Police Command is reported to have obtained a warrant of arrest from a court to arrest a former deputy governor of the state, Gerald Irona.

Also to be arrested are Kingsley Ufere, Batos Nwadike, Jones Onyereri and Obinna Duruaku.

It was gathered that they allegedly converted government property in their possession to personal use.

On the other hand, Onyereri and Duruaku allegedly converted two Ford Rangers, properties of Imo State government to their personal uses while Gerald Irona is accused of illegal conversion of one Land Cruiser V8, Land Cruiser V5 and Toyota Hilux.

All efforts to get the spokesman of the police in the state, CSP Michael Abattam to speak on the development proved abortive as at press time.

The media aide to the former deputy governor, Walter Duru referred our correspondent to the police spokesman.

But Duru promised that his boss would soon open up on issues surrounding him since he and the former governor, Emeka Ihedioha were ousted from office.
