After months of intense planning and extensive deliberations and networking, the first-ever Imo State Productivity Merit Award will take place on Saturday, September 24 at the prestigious Landmark Events Centre, Owerri.

The programme which is the brainchild of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Productivity under the leadership of the Commissioner, Chief Prince Ford Ozumba, was approved and supported by the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

According to Prince Ford Ozumba, the primary essence and objective of this novel programme is to encourage and boost productivity by recognising and appreciating Imolites who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour and impacted positively on the lives of the citizens through employment, empowerment, mentorship and others.

Ozumba recalled that since the creation of Imo State, there has never been an occasion where those who excelled both in the public or private sector were deliberately identified and publicly rewarded.

He posited that this omission resulted in dampened productivity zeal, adding that the 2022 Imo State Productivity Merit Award is targeted at redressing this.
