Ihedioha Reelection Movement (IRM), a voluntary political organization set up to champion the reelection of Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha, as Governor of Imo State in 2023/24 election has concluded its tour of the nine local government areas in Owerri Zone, Imo State.
The journey which commenced with Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, terminated in Owerri West LGA on Wednesday, with funfare and jubilation among the people, who earnestly craved for the return of Emeka Ihedioha.
In Ezinihitte Mbaise at the residence of Chief Magnus Chilaka (Ohia ahuru Agu), the people of the LGA admitted that Ihedioha is not only a son of Mbaise but has a personal affinity with Ezinihitte Mbaise because that was where he picked his wife.
The speakers, including Hon Oliver Enwerenem and the host, Chief Chilaka, assured that Ezinihitte Mbaise is for Ihedioha.
In Ahiazu Mbaise hosted in Chief Desmond Ugwuibe’s House, the LGA through Chief Steve Ahams, Chief Steve Onu, Chief Kevin Agbaegbu and Chief Ahiariakwe asked IRM to go and fish for votes elsewhere as delegates from Ahiazu Mbaise are for Ihedioha.
In Aboh Mbaise LGA that owns Ihedioha, the people represented by Chief Mike Ahamba (SAN) who was the host wondered why anybody should even preach to them about their own son, adding that it was a foreclosed agreement in unison that Ihedioha should go back to Imo Government House, Owerri.
“His seven months in office is indelible in the annals of Imo State. So, we are not supporting just because he is our son, but because he is an achiever” Ahamba said.
Among those who spoke in Aboh Mbaise were Nze Charles Onwunali, Nze Ansalem Ikwu, and Hon Obinna.
When the train touched the residence of Chief Emma Nwogu in Imerienwe, Ngor Okpala LGA, he spoke on his personal relationship with Ihedioha, and how Ihedioha is connected to Ngor Okpala since his political sojourn, and said that Ngor Okpala at all times has been for Ihedioha.
Also Prof Jude Njoku, Chief Charles Abara and Chief Henry Ekpe said Ihedioha is their son, because the mother is a daughter of Ngor Okpala, who gave Emeka to the world.
“We are totally in support of Ihedioha going back to Imo Government House, which was truncated” Prof Njoku said.
The movement also visited Mbaitoli LGA, hosted by Engr Sly Ama and Ikeduru in the House of Chief Paschal Uzo respectively.
In Ikeduru where all the leaders and party officers showed up, it was very momentous as the host, Chief Paschal Uzo donated the sum of One Million Naira (N1m) to IRM.
Mbaitoli LGA also assured that it has always been behind Ihedioha and delivered humongous votes for him during his last governorship election.
Owerri North LGA was tumultuous, as youthful but rich politician, Engr Uchenna Ofoegbu, threw his palatial home in Umundula, Orji open for IRM, where the LGA assured of her unflinching support for Emeka Ihedioha reelection bid.
Speakers were Hon Henry Osuji from Egbu, Hon Maxwell Nlemadim (Webber) from Emekuku and Hon Solomon Onwuegbuchulam (Obibiezena).
They all affirmed that Ihedioha is the real deal.
The next stop was the residence of Chief Ebere Chukwuemeka (ABJ) in Owerri Municipal Council.
The House of Assembly member for Owerri Municipal, Hon Solomon Anukam went nostalgic, telling the teeming crowd how it was during the Ihedioha era, urging the IRM to go ahead with what it is doing.
Other speakers were Chief Ben Mere, Chief Ebubeagu, Hon BenWood and others.
The train headed to Obinze in Owerri West LGA for its conclusion of the two-week tour, in the premises of Hon Uche Onyeagocha, the Owerri Zone Senatorial candidate of PDP.
The host lectured the people on how important it is for Ihedioha to return as governor, adding that nobody should be deceived that any other candidate can take PDP to success in Imo except Ihedioha, whose works are already there speaking for him.
“Ordinarily, there should have been no governorship primary in Imo PDP in 2023, because Ihedioha’s case is still before the Supreme Court waiting for review. He should be allowed to continue” Onyeagocha maintained.
Others who spoke included Elder Mathew Okorie, Dr Raymond Opara and Hon Chief Innocent Ekenma.
The Coordinator-General of Ihedioha Reelection Movement, Sir Bon Unachukwu thanked all members for their doggedness and steadfastness in covering Owerri Zone within so such a short time, but however challenged the IRM members that they should gird their loins, as the journey just started, because the next level is to go beg Ihedioha to join the race, after which he will announce to IRM the next step.
