The Nigerian Police Force has scheduled to host its conference in Imo State, from October 30 to November 1st, with President Muhammadu Buhari as the special guest of honour.

This disclosure was made by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, while briefing Government House correspondents on the outcome of the state executive council meeting on Wednesday.

According to the commissioner, the reason for hosting the conference of the Nigerian Police in Imo State was in recognition of the present government’s effort in containing insecurity, adding, “It’s like they are coming to give him a stamp of approval and kudos for all his efforts in containing insecurity”.

The commissioner said the council was pleased with the effort being made so far towards the relocation of the cattle market from Lokpanta to Umuaka Obii, Okigwe Local Government Area, which they reckon will improve the revenue of the state.

He said council approved modalities for transmission to digital economy for the benefit of youths and approved the steps being taken to renovate the abandoned nineteen general hospitals, as well as the three hundred and five public secondary schools in the state.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Dr. Ugorji O. Ugorji said the retreat with the theme: “The Imperative of the Nigerian Police Strategic Planning for Peaceful Election”, is actually a three-day event, from 31st October to November 3rd, though the officers will start arriving from 30th October.

He said; “Essentially the entire brass of the Nigerian Police Force will be in Imo State during that period; the IGP, the AIGs, the DIGs, all commissioners of police will converge in Imo State, while President Muhammadu Buhari will be the Special Guest of honour, having accepted the invitation to return to Owerri on 31st October for the conference, adding that Governor Hope Uzodimma will be the host.
