The Orlu caucus of Imo State House of Assembly has called on the people of Ideato Federal Constituency to disown the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for the area, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere before he completely smears their good name.
The caucus gave the advice at a press briefing addressed by its chairman and deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu.
Iwuanyanwu warned that anyone working against the interest of Orlu zone could never be of any good to any federal constituency in the area.
He said the caucus is disdained by the baseless, spurious and irresponsible allegations against the governor by Ugochinyere Imo that the voters’ register in the governor’s ward, Omuma had been inflated to give his party, APC undue advantage in the forthcoming elections
Iwuanyanwu said Ugochinyere and his paymasters in PDP had thought that they had succeeded in whittling down the voting strength of Orlu zone through the sponsorship of insecurity.
According to him, the Orlu zonal caucus in the state assembly had planned ahead to get all their constituents to register, to ensure they are not surpassed by the other two zones in registration.
Hear Iwuanyanwu; “Again, we have a sitting governor, a two times senator for Orlu zone. One way to boost his chances of reelection was to ensure that our people came out to register en masse.
“We the Orlu zone caucus took it upon ourselves to make sure that we got all our constituents to register. That in a nutshell is what has frustrated Ugochinyere and his sponsors.
The Deputy Speaker alleged that Ugochinyere has been going about boasting that he has INEC in his pocket, having paid its officials in Imo State for the forthcoming elections.
He expressed the profound gratitude of the Orlu caucus to the president for coming to commission landmark projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
He lauded the governor for providing an enabling environment which made it possible for Catholic Bishops of Nigeria to hold their conference in Orlu which he said had proven that Orlu was safe.
Adding his voice, the member for Ideato North state constituency, Hon. Innocent Arthur Egwim, said the outburst of Ugochinyere did not come to him as a surprise, being that he hails from his constituency.
He said such unguarded utterances and outbursts have been his stock-in-trade.
Egwim alleged that activities of Ugochinyere and his cohorts have made it difficult for politicians in APC in the area to go home, leaving PDP members to have a field day in political activities there.
