Kidnappers who seized a prominent traditional ruler in Imo State, Eze Joel Udenkwo on Friday, September 9 have reportedly demanded N200million ransom from the family.
Our correspondent gathered that the kidnappers made the demand via the monarch’s telephone handset on Sunday.
The monarch was kidnapped in front of Udekings Electronics Plaza located on Tetlow Road in Owerri, the state capital.
Eze Udenkwo is the traditional ruler of Isiala Umudi Community in the Nkwerre Local Government Area of the state.
The police spokesperson, CSP Michael Abattam, was yet to respond to an enquiry concerning the incident.
Recall that two out of the three wedding guests who were kidnapped while returning to Owerri from Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State were freed by their captors exactly a fortnight after seizing them.
Sources said ransom was paid before they were let off the hook. It could not be ascertained why the third person could not be released.
