The Education Committee of the Arondizuogu Progressive Union, APU, Imo State has announced the names of 18 successful candidates in the Round One of its award of scholarship to indigenes to undertake undergraduate programmes in Nigerian universities in the 2022/2023 academic session.
The successful candidates are Nwangwu Chiugo Paula from Ndiejezie, Medicine and Surgery, University Of Uyo; Ojike Peace Chinemerem from Akeme-Ikpaokoli, Medicine and Surgery, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka; Chikani Kenneth Chiebuka, from Aro-Okigwe, Pharmacy, University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Nwaghaluke Chibuikem Victory from Akeme, Medicine and Surgery, University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Nwazuluoke Joshua Chukwuebuka from Ndi Amazu-uno, Electrical and Electronics, Federal University of Technology, Owerri and Okonkwo Chinaza Joan from Ndiakaeme-uno, Biochemistry,
Michael Okpara University of Agriculture. Umudike

The president general of the union congratulated the successful candidates in the round one of the scholarship programme and urged them to maximize the opportunity by taking their studies very seriously and giving back to the community when they stand on their feet.
According to the Education Committee, the bursary ranges from N100000 to N400000 depending on the type of scholarship award.
The committee further disclosed that the bursary will be disbursed after verification of information and credentials of the beneficiaries, saying that scholarship award of any of the students whose credentials are discovered to be fake will be revoked instantly.
It also disclosed that the Round Two of the programme commences immediately, stressing that those who have already applied in the June 15 to August 15 window need not apply again as their applications will be considered alongside new applications.
The union however appealed to the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities to urgently resolve their differences with a view to reopening public universities so that students could resume studies to prepare themselves properly for challenges of life.
