The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has passed a vote of absolute confidence in the state Chairman, Chief Charles Ugwuh and State Working Committee, SWC.
The confidence vote was passed at a meeting of the State Executive Committee, SEC, of the party held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the state secretariat in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
A statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Collins Opurozor, disclosed that the SEC examined the efforts at reinvigoraing the party at the grassroots.
According to Opurozor, the SEC also lauded the successes of the collegiate leadership system as well as the openness and accountability in the management of party resources which the State Working Committee, SWC led by Ugwuh has ensured.
The spokesman added that the successes elicited applause, delight and commendation from the SEC.
He said the SEC, having been satisfied by the stellar performance of the Ugwuh-led SWC unanimously passed a vote of absolute confidence in the state chairman and the SWC.
The spokesman further disclosed that the SEC enjoined the Ugwuh-led SWC to continue apace with their vision, dedication and resourcefulness in piloting the affairs of the party and repositioning the party for resounding victories ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The statement dated September 9 equally informed that the SEC was particularly pleased with the prudence, accountability and integrity with which the party is run, and enthused that the strategy of the SWC which has energized the party at the grassroots has made the PDP in Imo State the party to beat in 2023.
Recall that a group, Imo PDP Surveillance Team recently called on Chief Charles Ugwuh to resign from his position as Chairman of the state chapter of the party.
The group accused Ugwuh of cluelessness, incapacitation as a result old age and ineptitude.
Chief Ugwuh had earlier cabled a petition to the Department of State Service (DSS) accusing the Director General (DG) of Divine Mandate Movement, DMM, Hon Ngozi Ogbu of threatening his life.
The DSS quizzed Hon. Ogbu, a former member of the Imo State House of Assembly that represented Okigwe Constituency on the strength of the petition.
DMM is the campaign outfit of the National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu.
