The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has called on security agencies in the country to stop abusing rights of the citizens.
Anyanwu regretted that instead of ensuring peace and tranquillity, some security operatives go about subjecting harmless Nigerians to undue labour, maltreatment and pains.
The senator, in a statement issued by his media aide, Ikenna Onuoha noted that such act is a clear violation of people’s constitutional rights.
He therefore called on human rights defenders to urgently intervene.
The good governance campaigner further advised.security agents to always apply caution in their dealings with the public, maintaining that their relationship with the people could go a long way to redeeming Nigeria’s image.
Anyanwu accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leaders of using maximum force on Nigerians in a bid to compel them to have sympathy for them.
Anyanwu, who was Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Public Petition and Privileges also averred that no Nigerian will ever accept the APC after it has inflicted the country with hardship.
The national secretary therefore appealed to security operatives still in the habit of oppressing Nigerians especially, the youths to desist forthwith
The senator, who represented Imo East District between 2015 and 2019 warned that such act if not cushioned is capable of brewing another crisis and triggering youth restiveness in the country.
