Abia Varsity Ends Strike, Resumes August 29

The Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) has pulled out of the six-month old strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

Following the pullout, the university has flung its gates and doors open for academic activities to commence in earnest

In a statement dated August 19, 2022 and signed by Registrar, Acho Elendu, the university announced resumption for continuation of the first semester of its 2021/2022 academic session on Monday, August 29,2022.

The university enjoined its students who are yet to pay their fees and complete registration formalities for the 2921/2022 academic session to do so as lectures commence on Tuesday, August 31, 2022.

The university said only bonafide students who have paid their fees and completed registration fomalities would be allowed into the Halls of residence.

It advised parents, guard I a s and sponsors of students to note appropriately..

The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU embarked on strike in February 2022 following the failure of the federal government to implement the 2009 renegotiated agreement with the union.
