The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has urged the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu to lend his support for the emergence of a president of South East extraction in 2023.
The National President of the Council, Igboayaka O Igboayaka made the call on Tuesday in Owerri, Imo State capital while speaking with newsmen.
Igboayaka admonished the governor to maintain his status as a noble man of justice by throwing his weight behind a South Easterner to emerge the President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.
Governor Akeredolu was recently quoted as saying that he would not mind if either Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu or Mr. Peter Obi emerges the country’s next president.
The OYC president counseled the governor to guard against presenting himself as one who is bereft of a sense of justice, fairness and equity.
Igboayaka said; “Gov. Akeredolu should purge himself from socio-political evil, and come out open to support presidential candidate from South-east.
“It’s a moral burden and question for Gov. Akeredolu to subscribe that president should return to Southwest after eight years of President Olusegun Obasanjo (1999-2007) and eight years of Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo (2015-2023).
“If Gov. Akeredolu objects to the president coming from the Northern Nigeria after their eight years in power through Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (2015-2023), why should power return to Southwest after their 16 years of presidency?
