Security operatives believed to be members of the Imo State Vigilance Group, Ebubeagu on Tuesday reportedly shot and killed a commercial motorcyclist at Ogbaku Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state.

An eyewitness said the security men operating in an unmarked Sienna bus with doors wide open stormed the Ogbaku junction where commuter motorcyclists usually mass in anticipation of customers.

According to him, a soon as they arrived at the intersection, one of them beckoned on the motorcyclist to come.

He said initially the flabbergasted motorcyclist resisted heeding to the command but later went to see them and requested to know what crime he might have committed.

The source disclosed that one of the security operatives opened fire on the motorcyclist and he fell down.

Not yet satisfied, he said the security operative moved closer and shot the motorcyclist the second time and he gave up the ghost on the spot.

Hear him; “What I can say is that all of us were here when a group of men came with a Sienna bus with its two doors open. And all of them were armed.  They went to where Okada people normally park at Ogbaku junction.

“They called the guy to come and the young man refused.  Later, he went and met with them. They try forcing him to board the vehicle. The only thing he asked them was; What crime have I committed?

“The next thing we heard was gunshot. They shot him the first time, he fell down and they went towards him and shot him the second and third time. After this, they boarded their vehicle and zoomed off. The guy died on the spot”.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO in the state, CSP Michael Abattam did not respond to enquiries on the matter before press time.
