A former governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has been called upon to present himself for election into the same seat in 2023 in order to salvage the state.

The members of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the 27 local government areas who served during his administration made the call on Sunday during a courtesy visit on him at his country home in Mbutu Community, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of the state.

The State Coordinator of the group, Hon Ikenna Ononuju noted that the dignity of the local government administration was restored in the state under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the visit, Hon Nonso Amaliri observed that the yearning of an average Imo man from the 305 wards is that Ihedioha returns as governor in 2023.

Amaliri said; “Imo people had confidence in your government and still have confidence in your capacity to Rebuild and restore the lost glory of the state”. 

Moving the motion to compel Ihedioha to declare to contest for the governorship seat, Barr Obinna Agbasi disclosed that,” Imo has experienced maladministration since the unjust ouster of Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha.

This is why all men of goodwill are calling on Your Excellency to rise to the occasion to rescue and salvage the state”.

Seconding the motion, Lady Cecilia Chukwukere who corroborated the assertions of those who spoke earlier said within his short time in office, Ihedioha left his footprints in all facets of life.

According to her, Ihedioha left indelible marks in the education , security, sports, infrastructure, health and indeed every sector of the state. 

She commended Ihedioha for mainstreaming women and youths in the Rebuild Imo government, reasons they are calling on him to answer the clarion call. 

The motion was adopted by the entire house with no dissenting voice.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of wall-sized portrait, Holy BIBLE and basket of kolanuts to His Excellency.
