A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State and renowned social critic, Professor Protus Uzorma has lashed out at Professor Obioma Iheduru over the scathing remarks he made concerning the National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu.
Uzorma, who is an ally of Senator Anyanwu fondly called Samdaddy stressed that the attack launched by Iheduru was not only uncalled for but ill-informed.
Prof. Uzorma disclosed that Imo State chapter of the PDP would not repeat the mistake of the 2015 and 2019 when the governorship ticket was given consecutively to a person who lacks the will-power to hold onto power.
Speaking in an interview in Owerri, the state capital at the weekend, Prof Uzorma made it clear that the political grace in PDP has departed from Ihedioha and is now vested on Senator Anyanwu as the leader of the party in Imo State just like the case of David and Saul in the Bible.
Professor Iheduru had granted interview to a select journalists in Owerri where he warned the PDP National Secretary, Senator Anyanwu to stop blackmailing Ihedioha.
Iheduru maintained that without Ihedioha, the Imo State chapter of the PDP would have gone into extinction, stressing that Senator Anyanwu should stop playing a spoiler’s game.
According to Iheduru, Samdaddy as senator is fondly called should be loyal to Ihedioha for providing Imo State the much needed and selfless leadership over the years.
He further accused Samdaddy of being jealous of Ihedioha’s seven months administration as governor which he described as the best.
Iheduru stated that Senator Anyanwu is jealous of the soaring popularity of Ihedioha which he earned within seven months he held sway as the governor in Imo State.
Uzorma, a Professor of Philosophy posited that PDP as a political party does not belong to Ihedioha but its members in Imo State.
He stated that Ihedioha has shown his leadership capacity having held the governorship ticket for two consecutive times, pointing out that another person should be given the opportunity to fly the party’s flag.
According to Prof Uzorma, “We cannot be repeating a particular thing and expect a different result. Ihedioha is my very good friend. I am not against his aspiration but I am of the opinion that another person should be allowed to have the party’s governorship ticket. It is not his birth right but his constitutional right.
He alleged that Ihedioha fought tooth and nail to stop the appointment of Samdaddy as the National Secretary, but conceded when he found out that he lacked the capacity to stop it.
He urged the former deputy Speaker, House of Representatives to subject himself to the leadership of Anyanwu.
He pointed that power is transient and the earlier the former governor understands the transient nature of power or leadership, the better for him and his supporters.
