.Durugbo Is An army Deserter, Says Royal Father
The General Overseer of Community Church in Bayelsa State, Rev. Vincent Durugbo, has alleged that the Traditional Ruler of Ugbele-aka Autonomous Community in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State , Eze Peter C. Ukonu sent assassins to kill him (Durugbo).
The cleric who also hails from same community said that his life has severally been threatened by the traditional ruler because he has often opposed him in the community.
Speaking with newsmen in Owerri, the Imo state capital, he recalled that on July 17, 2022, on arrival at his house with his sister at Ojukwu Village, Ugbele-Umuaka, they almost lost their lives.
He said, “Shortly after I got home with my sister, I sensed danger and we immediately left our house.
“While we drove off, we saw two Ebube Agu vans, heavily loaded with its operatives all masked coming from Eze Akpaka’s palace and heading to my house. That was not the first time he sent thugs to kill me.
“You should also know this, Akpaka is not an Eze. He imposed himself on the people. First is that he doesn’t have the required WASCE result to be crowned a traditional ruler.
“The man whose duty it was to cap him declined. His name is Eze Ihejirika Durugbo. Peter Ukonu on his own wore the cap and named himself the Eze of Ugbele. Lolo Regina Durugbo, Rose Mbaeri Durugbo and myself, were all witnesses to this.
“Having crowned himself a chief, he went through the back door to collect a staff of office. As we speak, his case is still being instituted in the court by Chief Obisirike, the rightful owner of the throne. Akpaka is fake.”
“I want the police to revisit his case where he openly confessed at the command upon interrogation that he masterminded the attempted kidnap of my sister.
“I also called on the government of Imo state to wade into the issue by compelling the police to immediately commence investigation on the matter.”
When contacted, the Traditional Ruler, HRH Eze Peter C. Ukonu, said that whatever case he had with Durugbo had since been disposed of by the police.
He described Durugbo as not only an impostor who claims to be an ordained man of God and a titled chief to deceive people, but also a deserter of Nigerian army with lots of criminal tendencies.
He however promised that he is ready to reabsorb Durugbo if he pleads for forgiveness, adding that he is still his subject irrespective of his numerous criminal activities.
